What is self-assessment?

What is the concept of self-assessment?

The self-assessment is essentially how we see and value ourselves. It is an internal image of ourselves that we form over the years, based on our experiences, the opinions of others and our achievements. Our self-evaluation influences how we relate to ourselves, how we deal with challenges, and the relationships we build with others.

Self-assessment can be:

  • Positive: If we believe that we are capable of success and that we are valuable people.
  • Negative: If we feel unworthy or unable to do certain tasks.
  • Realistic: If we see ourselves realistically in relation to our abilities and values.

Many factors play a role in the development of self-esteem:

  • Family environment: The opinions and feedback we receive from parents and family members have a big influence on how we see ourselves.
  • Social relationships: The opinions of friends, peers and colleagues also shape self-esteem.
  • Success stories: Achievements and successes strengthen the self-confidence and positive self-esteem.
  • Accidents, illnesses: Negative experiences, failures and difficulties can undermine self-esteem.

Why is self-assessment important?

Our self-esteem is affected:

  • Our motivation: Positive self-esteem encourages us to achieve our goals, while negative self-esteem can hinder our progress.
  • Our contacts: How we see ourselves affects how we relate to others and how we expect others to relate to us.
  • For our mental health: Low self-esteem can lead to anxiety, depression and other mental health problems.

How can we improve our self-esteem? A Coaching help!

  • Work on self-knowledge: Know your strengths and weaknesses.
  • Positive thinking: We look for the good in ourselves and in the world around us.
  • Setting and achieving goals: Let's take small steps forward and celebrate our successes.
  • Accepting ourselves: Accept ourselves with our flaws and imperfections.
  • Ask a professional for help: If your self-esteem is a serious problem, see a therapist or to coach.

Self-evaluation is a constantly changing thing. We are affected by many events in our lives, but we can develop and strengthen it through conscious work.

The price of silent turnover: why external coaching is the most important HR strategy investment for 2026?

The price of silent turnover: why external coaching is the most important HR strategy investment for 2026?

Silent fluctuation is more insidious than dismissal. The employee stays, but his or her commitment declines - and this slowly, silently erodes performance.

In 2026, the question is not whether there will be fluctuations, but whether we will recognise the signs in time. Corporate external coaching helps to ensure that leaders are more stable, trust is strengthened and silent turnover does not become open turnover.

If you're an HR manager or CEO, this is not an extra development - it's a strategic decision.

How does knowledge become a real business outcome?

How does knowledge become a real business outcome?

Most of the leaders I meet have already participated in at least one or two leadership programmes. Some have done dozens of training courses. Yet, when I ask them what has changed in their organisation twelve months later - silence. Not one of shame, but of recognition: knowledge was plentiful, transformation less so.

I am looking for the best coaches in Budapest, how do I find them?

Budapest is full of coaches. But you're not looking for a coach - you're looking for a good coach. The difference is like the difference between a good hairdresser and a not-bad hairdresser: after one you're fine, after the other you feel like a different person. We show you how to find him or her...

Managerial isolation: how do you lead when management disappears from under you and looms over you?

Managerial isolation: how do you lead when management disappears from under you and looms over you?

What happens when you are appointed a manager but there is no management above you to keep you on?
Responsibility will increase, the weight of decisions will increase - but support will disappear.

Leadership isolation is not an individual problem, but a symptom of a new era of leadership. In this article, we look at why leaders are left to their own devices, why neither the „I'll get by” nor the „be a coach at all costs” strategy works, and how to lead well even when there is no safety net.

If you're a leader or have just stepped into a leadership role, this article is about you - even if you haven't called your position that before.
