But when it comes to putting ourselves first, we suddenly become silent or uncomfortable. This phenomenon is extremely common - especially among people who would otherwise <a href=\"https:\/\/coachlab.hu\/en\/executive-coaching\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">have excellent leadership skills.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is self-marketing like?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Self-marketing or self-advertising<\/strong> olyan tudatos tev\u00e9kenys\u00e9gek \u00f6sszess\u00e9ge, amelyek sor\u00e1n az egy\u00e9n saj\u00e1t \u00e9rt\u00e9keit, k\u00e9pess\u00e9geit, eredm\u00e9nyeit \u00e9s szem\u00e9lyes m\u00e1rk\u00e1j\u00e1t \u00e9p\u00edti \u00e9s kommunik\u00e1lja a k\u00fclvil\u00e1g fel\u00e9. Personal branding<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It involves identifying and highlighting the unique qualities, values and competences that set us apart from others. What do we want people to immediately associate with our name or person?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Communicating of values and results<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our ability to speak effectively and convincingly about our own achievements, successes and professional experience without sounding pretentious or discredited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Establishing an online and offline presence<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Conscious management of professional online profiles (like LinkedIn \/ e.g. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/robertrado\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Rob's coach LinkedIn page<\/a>\/, professional website, blog) and the image created by personal appearances, presentations, comments, publications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Cultural context?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Magyarorsz\u00e1gon (\u00e9s sok m\u00e1s k\u00f6z\u00e9p-eur\u00f3pai orsz\u00e1gban) a szer\u00e9nys\u00e9g hagyom\u00e1nyosan nagy \u00e9rt\u00e9k (volt?). M\u00e1r gyermekkorunkban azt tanultuk, hogy \"ne dicsekedj\", \"ne h\u00edvd fel magadra a figyelmet\". Ezek a kultur\u00e1lis norm\u00e1k m\u00e9lyen bel\u00e9nk iv\u00f3dnak, \u00e9s k\u00e9s\u0151bb, feln\u0151ttk\u00e9nt is befoly\u00e1solj\u00e1k viselked\u00e9s\u00fcnket. Az\u00e9rt ma m\u00e1r ezen igyeksz\u00fcnk jav\u00edtani \u00e9s v\u00e1ltoztatni, ahogy kiny\u00edlt a vil\u00e1g, t\u00f6bbek k\u00f6z\u00f6tt a globaliz\u00e1ci\u00f3 is lehet\u0151v\u00e9 tette ezt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Here is an example of my own:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have a very good example of my own cultural background. When I did one of my MBAs or graduated from university, we went abroad and others came here. And a good example of that is the American students. A lot of you know this, you know this because I mentioned it several times to similar questions. Hurr\u00e1 optimizmus! Nem vicc, \u00f6r\u00fcltek, hogy remek feladaton dolgozhatnak csapatukkal \u00e9s versenyben a magyarokkal... Tudn\u00e1m hosszasan mes\u00e9lni, de a l\u00e9nyeg, hogy midenki megcsin\u00e1lta a feladatot \u00e9s h\u00e1t v\u00e1rt vagy nem v\u00e1rt, de nagy k\u00fcl\u00f6nbs\u00e9g volt a szintben, a min\u0151s\u00e9gben a kidolgoz\u00e1s m\u00e9lys\u00e9g\u00e9ben \u00e9s szinte mindenben. Persze az el\u0151ad\u00e1s, a prezent\u00e1ci\u00f3 is nagyon durva kontraszt volt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"492\" src=\"https:\/\/CoachLab.hu\/wp-content\/uploads\/usa-hat-159463_1280.webp\" alt=\"Not good at self-marketing either? El\u00e9g is volt a p\u00e9ld\u00e1b\u00f3l, mert t\u00f6bbek k\u00f6z\u00f6tt az \u00edr\u00e1s k\u00f6vetkez\u0151 pontja is biztosan h\u00e1tr\u00e1ltatott minket, magyarokat...  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fear of being judged<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many people are afraid that if they talk too much about their achievements, others will think they are arrogant or conceited. This fear is often unfounded, but it is still a very real obstacle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The impact of impostor syndrome<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"T\u00f6bben vagyunk \u00edgy ezzel\" \u2013 \u00e9s val\u00f3ban, az imposztorszindr\u00f3ma k\u00fcl\u00f6n\u00f6sen elterjedt a vezet\u0151k k\u00f6r\u00e9ben. A good coach can help:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To recognise our own values and strengths<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Processing deep-rooted inhibitions and fears<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop effective communication strategies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Practise in different situations in a protected environment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Work with self-knowledge<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first step is always to <a href=\"https:\/\/coachbp.hu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">developing self-awareness<\/a>. Write down the challenges we faced, how we overcame them and what we achieved. This list is not only about <a href=\"https:\/\/coachlab.hu\/en\/blog\/developing-the-types-of-trust-and-confidence\/\" title=\"Building blocks of self-confidence: a comprehensive guide to healthy self-esteem\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">self-confidence<\/a> but also as concrete material for future self-presentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Collecting and processing feedback<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">External feedback can be extremely valuable, as others often see our strengths better than we do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A practical tip for our customers:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Ask for structured feedback from colleagues, superiors, subordinates using the 360-degree evaluation method. Finding the right communication style<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authentic self-marketing is not the same as bragging. And this is very important, because if we overdo it, we can put our need for this kind of development on the back burner for life, so be sensible!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Credibility vs. visibility<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Credibility always comes before mere visibility. Too much self-promotion can easily backfire, especially in the long run.
